The Cleveland Billiards and Snooker Referees Association

The association is dedicated to providing top class Referee's who are knowledgeable in the interpretation and application of the Rules of both the games of Billiards and Snooker. These referees are available to undertake duties at all levels up to and including professional level. The area covered by the association is in the North East of England and stretches from Hartlepool in the North down to Loftus in the South and out as far as Darlington in the West

If you are considering the possibility of having a professional snooker player to give an exhibition in your club, then why not contact our secretary and let him arrange for a suitable referee to take charge of the game and give it that finishing touch.

The association members are all affiliated to the English Association for Snooker and Billiards (EASB) who are the governing body for both the games of Billiards and Snooker at Amateur Level in the United Kingdom.

We have an official examiner within our membership who is able to advise potential referees on the rules and table etiquette prior to their undertaking an examination. The duration of an examination is approximately 2 hours and requires the candidate to provide a suitable billiard table in a quiet location. All aspects of the rules will be covered during this examination and successful candidates will be informed upon completion of their success or otherwise. Further details of the referees scheme can be found by clicking on the "Referees Scheme" link at the top of this page.

You will also find further details about the association and also information relating to the competitions run by the association by selecting the appropriate link above. Copies of Competition Rules and Entry Forms can also be found by clicking on the appropriate links to be found in each competition section.

The boundaries for competition entries have been extended for the 2014 season to cover the whole of the North East Region. It is hoped that this will increase the total number of entries for all competitions.

For anybody interested in becoming a Qualified Referee in either or both Games should contact the Secretary / Treasurer to arrange for examination.
